Jammu, January 9:
There was a stir on Thursday after receiving a bomb threat to blow up the Jammu court complex along with several courts in the country. The Sessions Court Jammu received a threatening e-mail claiming that three IEDs made of RDX had been planted inside the court premises.
The e-mail threatened to detonate before dusk, prompting security agencies to be immediately alerted.
Sources said, the e-mail also said that all the explosives were remote-controlled. There was a possibility of a suicide attack if the explosion did not occur.
The sender of the e-mail warned the court staff and the general public to vacate the premises immediately.
Soon after the threat was received, the Jammu Police, security agencies and the bomb disposal squad were informed.
As a precautionary measure, a massive search operation was conducted in the court and adjoining High Court premises. During this time, the bomb disposal squad and dog squad were also present on the spot. Movement in the court premises was restricted for some time due to security reasons. According to police officials, no suspicious object or explosive material was recovered during the search operation. Despite this, security agencies are carrying out intensive checking of the premises and surrounding areas, keeping a high alert. Technical examination of the e-mail has also been initiated to identify the source and sender. Police say that taking the matter seriously, all aspects are being investigated and security arrangements have been further strengthened. At present, the situation is completely under control, but vigilance is being taken till the investigation is completed.
