Srinagar, May 15:
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday staged a protest in Srinagar demanding a complete ban on liquor in Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, the police stopped the protesters moving towards Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s residence and detained some leaders for some time.
According to the information, many BJP leaders and workers had gathered near Ram Munshi Bagh Park. From there, all were trying to march to the Chief Minister’s residence. The protesters also raised slogans demanding the implementation of liquor ban in Jammu and Kashmir.
The police stopped the protesters from moving forward, citing security arrangements. After this, some BJP leaders and workers were detained. However, later all were released peacefully and the demonstration ended.
