Jammu, September 8:
Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla on Tuesday slammed BJP Govt for acting as a mute spectator to their sufferings of J&K people. BJP’s tall claims of creating job and employment for the youths has turned mere hoax. He blamed BJP for the falling growth rate of the country. He also said that BJP also needs to be blamed for the GDP situation in the country. “BJP has paralysed our GDP growth rate. This was observed by former Monister while interacting with aggrieved people of Bahu Fort, Kacha Tallab as a part of his continue mass contact programme in Gandhi Nagar constituency amid scare of Covid-19 pandemic . Prominent among those present on the occasion include Block President Jatinder Singh Chib, Vijay Singh Chib, GS Sodi, Diwan Chand, Latish Sharma, Sahil Shavotra, Bal Ram, Pintu Sagotra, Amit Dalotra, Goutam Chalotra, Amjad Malik, Salim Khan, Iqbal Malik, Bittu Charak, Mohd. Salim beside others.
The country is witnessing all-time low economic growth and employment rate has dipped to an all-time low,” he said. He alleged that the Centre was not taking any “effective steps” to improve the economic situation of the country. He said that all sections of society are facing difficulties and that the centre should take effective measures to improve the current situation. He said that the administration must come out of deep slumber and infuse responsiveness and an element of accountability in its machinery in order to mitigate the sufferings of people. Bhalla said that women folk are bearing maximum brunt of the anti-people policies being propagated by the NDA Government headed by Narendra Modi. He said except tall promises, nothing concrete has been done on the ground.
Bhalla maintained that BJP Govt has failed on all fronts. He said the authorities are not paying any attention to burning problems of the common man. He said BJP today alleged that the UPA failed to fulfill the aspirations of ”Aam Admi”(common man) despite the fact that they had come into power on slogan of protecting the interests of common man. All major sectors like manufacturing, trade, construction, education, health, information technology, transport, and accommodation and restaurant have failed to pickup under BJP rule. The BJP manifesto promised to ensure a peaceful and secure environment, where there is no place for either the perpetrators or exploiters of fear but nothing was done also in this regard also. Seeking the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, Bhalla said the Congressmen are on the roads to convey the voice of the people to the President as the “undemocratic and unconstitutional” steps taken by the Centre left them “deeply hurt”.”People are scared to open their voice for their rights. This is the situation which has been thrust on them after this beautiful state was dismantled,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla recalled that BJP had made a false promise to the people of the nation to give them “Achey Din” but in reality they are giving us “expensive and bad days” by increasing the prices of essential commodities.Bhalla stated that people had enough dose of mis-governance in the JK for last six years, saying people have realized that they have to support Congress which can address their issues and fulfill their expectations. The people of Jammu displayed faith in BJP while giving them huge mandate from Jammu region with the hope that their grievances will be taken note of and discrimination with Jammu will end. However, BJP after forming Govt sidelined issues related to Jammu, he said. The people want development, employment opportunities, better infrastructure and other basic requirements like adequate water and power supply. He alleged that the BJP befooled the people of this city with dreams of making Jammu a Smart City, but there has been no discussions and deliberations on the status and work done towards making Jammu a Smart City.
He said lack of direction and political will have compounded the perception of political uncertainty in J&K whereas the Government should have tried to provide a hope of inclusive development, reconciliation and peace. The former Minister said the BJP Government rather than engaging with aggrieved people with an aim to address their issues, had chosen to tread a path of isolation, arrogance and confrontation contradicting the promises made with people of J&K.More than six years have passed but they have failed to address promised issues, be it the problems faced by the border residents, be it the problems faced by the farmers, be it the problems of refugees and Kashmiri Pandits, this government has done nothing to address those problems,” Bhalla added.
The former Minister blamed the BJP Govt for pushing Jammu and Kashmir into developmental inertia with utility services in disarray as a result of which the people are suffering on account of lack of basic amenities. “The mis-governance has taken toll on every sector and the people are suffering on account of basic minimum needs,” he said.He said the current insensitive dispensation has exposed people to administrative inertia, as a result of which they were suffering on all fronts. “Congress Party has always defeated the autocratic behavior of those who believe in suppressing or oppressing and victimizing the masses or opponents while in power”, he added. Former Minister claimed that with each passing day it’s becoming clear that BJP leaders from Jammu region have not been able to give a proper feedback to the policy makers sitting in New Delhi.
Bhalla strongly maintained that BJP leaders seem to be unaware about the ground realities. He said that BJP is responsible for creating social and political uncertainty in J&K and it can go to any extent to remain in power. There is a strong resentment among the people against this government as it has not fulfilled its promises made at the time of elections. Bhalla said that disillusionment of people with the BJP government is growing, as governance is at the lowest depth and development has taken nose dive in the past over six years. “People are realising the futility of electing a government that is not only insensitive towards their problems but also responsible in adding to these on every front”, he said. Many civilians from Jammu to Kashmir are in severe financial distress.
The Congress leader said the people were suffering immensely in every respect due to the continuous shelling on borders and deteriorating law and order situation adding to the fear psychosis among the people. “But the irony is that both LG government and Centre have miserably failed to contain the situation. Rather the wrong policies adopted by them have added more problems,” he alleged.Owing to growing economic and social insecurity due to Covid-19, all sections of society facing great hardships to cope up with this emerging situation. The mistrust has put the developmental works in limbo. The fake promises made by BJP Govt to the masses have also created anger among the people.
Bad governance has only deteriorated the whole situation in Jammu and Kashmir. BJP claims massive funds flow into J&K from New Delhi.
Where do they go? We still struggle to have a proper infrastructure where basic needs like good roads, electricity, healthcare, education and many other things remain a distant dream, said Bhalla.Former Minister said that in the last six years BJP has failed to take any cognizance on the coveted projects.
