In the Jammu and Kashmir budget presented before Holi, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has showered a lot of promises. The Omar government has not shown any stinginess in distributing gifts to the people in the joy of returning to power. The Omar government has been most kind to the youth, the poor and women.
Presenting the budget before the Panchayat elections, the CM announced free electricity for the poor, 10 kg free ration. Hike in pension, free bus facility for women and jobs for the youth. But, along with increasing the price of petrol and diesel. A heavy tax has been imposed on buying non-transport vehicles from outside the state. This has also disappointed the people.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed his far-sighted intentions at the very beginning of his speech by saying ‘Tan Hama Daag-Dag Shud-Pumba Kuja Kuja Neham’. These lines are quoted when a work goes so wrong that it is not possible to correct it.
In a subtle way, this is a dig at the central government, but the budget bears the full imprint of the central government. The Chief Minister also vowed to take democracy to the grassroots level after the assembly elections.
While presenting a budget of one lakh 40 thousand 309 crore 99 lakh rupees (actual budget 01 lakh, 12 thousand, 310 crores) for the year 2025-26, the Chief Minister also praised the help of the Center. Especially, he was full of praise for the special assistance of five thousand crores from the Government of India. He expressed gratitude to PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
