Officials urged women to disclose crimes against them

On Saturday, the Baramulla police observed International Women’s Week. Senior officials urged women to disclose crimes against women without holding back and assured them of swift action.
Speaking at the occasion, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amod Ashok Nagpure emphasized the importance of treating women with dignity every day rather than just once or twice a week.
Men don’t have the right to abuse women, he claimed. Nagpure argued that if they can honor women in their own houses, why not do the same elsewhere.
The top police officer said, “You will have to take such an action if any male is engaging in any wrongdoing against you. You should be able to slap him, you should be able to hit him with your sneaker.
The police are there to assist the ladies, and such cases will be handled on a priority basis, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (probationary), Kubra Nazir, who is presently SHO of the Boniyar police station, in a statement to media.
According to Nazir, any woman who is being abused or notices another woman being abused should come forward and disclose it without holding back.
