Jammu, April 16:
Registrations for the Shri Amarnath Yatra will begin on April 15. As many as 17,000 pilgrims registered at 554 bank branches across the country. The yatra will begin on July 3 and continue till August 28. The pilgrimage which usually lasts for 40 to 60 days, will last for 57 days this year. The registration facility is currently till August 3. An announcement will be made at a later date.
There was a queue outside banks in Jammu since Wednesday morning. Women, youth and elders were all chanting Baba Barfani. Devotees standing in long queues during registration were waiting for their turn.
The Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board has issued detailed guidelines related to group registration. Special registration facility has been made available for groups of 5 to 30 pilgrims under which interested pilgrims can apply together.
The prescribed application form, passport size photo, Aadhaar number and contact details will be mandatory for each member of the group.
Along with this, the original copy of the mandatory health certificate issued by the authorized doctor or medical institution will also have to be submitted.
