Pulwama, January 17 :
Residents of Newa area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have accused authorities of failing to provide them uninterrupted drinking water supply.
Reports reached to mercury times, Locals said that they are suffering immensely due to acute water shortage in these winter days which they have been facing since past few weeks.
They said, “Due to shortage of drinking water, people here are facing lot of problems. Despite frequent reminders, the Jal Shakti Department (PHE) authorities didn’t even tell us the reason of interruption and have failed to restore the supply till now,” one of the residents rued. “The problem in this cold weather makes matters worse.”
They said that inhabitants of wani Mohlla and Hajam Mohlla under the jurisdiction of PHE sub-divison Pulwama have been left at the God’s mercy.
“Even as the matter was brought into the notice of the concerned authorities through representations and protest demonstrations, no action was taken till date,” they said.
The residents have appealed dupty commissioner Pulwama and higher officials of jal shakti department to look into the problem and redress their genuine demands of newa village at the earliest.
