Jammu, January 30:
775 mobile towers will be installed to ensure 4G connectivity in remote and hitherto uncovered areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
Through these towers, especially the border, hilly and remote villages will be connected to the mobile network.
This information was given by Piyush Singla, Secretary, Deptt of Information Technology during the 10th State Broadband Committee meeting.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo.
The project is being implemented under the central government’s Universal Service Obligation Fund with BSNL as the implementing agency.
The Secretary informed that land has been allotted at all the 775 identified sites. The power supply has also been ensured at most of the locations in collaboration with PDD.
The Chief Secretary directed the implementing agencies to expedite the work especially at 269 sites to be completed by 31st March and expedite the clearances for the remaining locations.
