Jammu, August 26:

Tourism will get a new lease of life in the state. By 2029, the proposed ropeway is set to visit Baba Barfani. The Central Government has approved seven major ropeway projects under the Parvatmala Project. The process of preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been initiated.

National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) has been entrusted with the responsibility of executing the projects. NHLML has sought proposals from technical consultants for preparation of DPR. The projects include 2.13 km from Sonamarg to Thajiwas glacier, 11.6 km from Baltal to Shri Amarnath cave, 2.97 km from Nashri Tunnel to Sanasar, 8.8 km from Bhaderwah to Siozdhar, 2 km from Dudhpathri (Parihas to Diskhal), 14 km from Amarnath Base Point Pahalgam to Chandanwari and 23 km ropeway from Chandanwadi to holy Shri Amarnath cave.

The DPR will be finalized after appointment of technical advisors. Along with this, the actual cost, alignment and other technical aspects of the projects will also be decided. The proposed ropeway will make the Amarnath Yatra more accessible, especially on the Baltal and Pahalgam routes. This will make travel easier for devotees of all ages.
