Jammu, Octobr 26:
Protests erupted in Jammu on Monday over National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah’s statement on Pakistan. BJP leaders and several organisations criticised his statement and demanded an apology. Some leaders also demanded registration of an FIR against him and his arrest.
In Baramulla, Farooq Abdullah had said that Pakistan is protecting Kashmiris. After his statement, BJP leaders and various organizations expressed displeasure. Several organisations, including the Rashtriya Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Dogra Front and National Anti-Terrorism Front, took out a march and burnt effigies of Farooq Abdullah.
BJP MLA Vikram Randhawa termed the statement as anti-national and said it cannot be taken lightly. He alleged that Farooq Abdullah was speaking in favour of a country which has been accused of promoting terrorism and unrest in Jammu and Kashmir.
BJP leader Shakti Raj Parihar demanded registration of FIR against Farooq Abdullah on charges of sedition and his arrest.
The organisation also sought an inquiry into possible action under the National Security Act (NSA). Any legal action has to be decided on the basis of the investigation and the provisions of the relevant laws.
