Jammu, November 27:
The protests over the allocation of MBBS seats to students from a particular community at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board’s Medical College in Katra continue.
Protests continued in various districts of the Jammu division on Wednesday.
BJP workers expressed their anger against the government at Chadwal Chowk in Hiranagar. Protesters alleged that the majority of MBBS seats were being allocated to students from the Kashmir Valley. While Hindu students from the Jammu division were being discriminated against.
In Kathua, youth demonstrated in support of the movement launched under the banner of the Sangharsh Samiti.
At Jakhani Chowk in Udhampur, residents of Jakhani and Bharat Nagar raised slogans.
A meeting of organizations was held at the Hindu Ashram in Reasi to formulate a strategy. Meanwhile, in Jammu, the BJP held a press conference at its headquarters in Trikuta Nagar. During the meeting, they demanded changes to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine University Act of 1999 and questioned the admission process.
State spokesperson and advocate Ankur Sharma said that the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine University Act should be revisited.
