The CBI has made a serious allegation of bribery against a police sub-inspector. The accused SI Mohammad Bashir Malik is accused of demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 in exchange for giving a police report in a case.
The incident is giving rise to allegations of departmental negligence and collusion.
Sources said, the CBI team is continuously trying to arrest the accused. On Saturday, CBI DIG Vis Chandu himself reached the RS Pura police station, He collected information from the concerned officers.
The team raided Mohammad Bashir Malik’s current residence in Bathindi area. His native village in Poonch. But no clue has been found about the accused so far. Meanwhile, there is also a discussion that someone posted in the police station helped the accused to escape.
After the case of openly demanding bribe in the police station came to light, questions are being raised on the working style of the police administration among the general public. There is a heated discussion among the local people whether the concerned senior officials were not aware of this corruption or it was deliberately ignored.
According to sources, the accused has had a controversial image for some time. The CBI has also searched computers and documents to check the records in the police station. Given the seriousness of the case, senior police officials can also be held accountable.
In this regard, RS Pura SDPO Gurmeet Singh informed that the CBI has registered a case against the accused Sub Inspector Mohammad Bashir Malik and now a departmental inquiry is also being initiated. He said that departmental action will be taken on the basis of the CBI report.
