Poonch, October 14:
The Poonch Municipal Council continued its anti-encroachment drive for the second consecutive day in the main market.
The action was taken against those shopkeepers who kept goods outside their shops. It causes inconvenience to pedestrians and obstructing the movement of traffic. On the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner of Poonch, a special team formed under the supervision of Poonch Municipal Council Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Khalil Ahmad Bande carried out the operation and seized the goods kept outside the shops.
Officials said that the shopkeepers had already been instructed not to keep goods outside the limits of their shops. Despite the earlier warning, action is being taken against those who violate the instructions. The administration reiterated its resolve to maintain a clean, orderly and encroachment-free market and said that the drive will continue in the coming days for the convenience of the people and to ensure smooth movement of traffic. Shopkeepers have been appealed to cooperate with the authorities and keep the market area free from encroachment.
