Srinagar, September 15:
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday targeted the BJP over the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). He said if the BJP has enough numbers to get it passed in Parliament. It should bring the bill in Parliament and not try to implement it through different states.
Omar Abdullah said that a law like UCC should be for the entire country. It should be decided through Parliament instead of implementing it in different states.
He said the BJP should not try to implement it through the back door.
The Chief Minister said that even in the BJP’s own NDA alliance, all the parties are not in favour of the UCC.
Citing the example of Bihar, he said that according to reports, the Janata Dal (United) has also expressed disagreement with the implementation of UCC there.
Omar said that there is no BJP government in all the states of the country.
