Jammu, the city of temples, experienced its hottest September on Sunday compared to 2024. The daytime temperature rose 4.1 degrees above normal to 36.6 degrees Celsius, compared to last year’s maximum of 36.4 degrees Celsius on September 25. The heat is accompanied by high humidity.
In Jammu, the maximum temperature has gone above 36 degrees in the month of September. It’s only four times in the last ten years. The temperature of 36.9 degrees Celsius was recorded on 8 September 2023.
36.6 degrees Celsius on 22 September 2020. The all-time maximum temperature here was 38.9 degrees Celsius on 12 September 1967. The minimum temperature here was recorded at 23.4 degrees Celsius on Sunday. Similarly, the maximum temperature was recorded at 30.2 in Banihal, 28.1 in Batote, 32.7 in Kathua and 29.0 degrees Celsius in Bhaderwah.
The heat has increased in Kashmir as well. Maximum temperatures in many districts are hovering between 31 and 33 degrees Celsius. The capital, Srinagar, is also experiencing heatwaves. The maximum temperature here rose 4.7 degrees above normal to 31.4 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 12.8 degrees Celsius. Pahalgam recorded a maximum temperature of 26.0 degrees Celsius and Gulmarg recorded 20.8 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is expected to remain clear in the future as well.
