Jammu, May 19:
Sidhra Police has arrested five people resident of Kashmir with fake US dollars.
The accused were trying to defraud the local people by luring them of selling dollars at a cheap price. Five bundles of fake US dollars have been recovered from them.
Five accused identified as Nisar Ahmed resident of Shopian, Abdul Rashid resident of Kulgam, Mohammad Ishfaq resident of Sopore, Mohammad Iqbal Shah resident of Achchabal, Anantnag and Farooq resident of Lar, Ganderbal.
Police said, a team of Sidhra police along with Special Operation Group (SOG) personnel was patrolling the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. During this time, some people walking on foot with bags hanging on their shoulders saw the police personnel coming towards them and they started running in the opposite direction.
Their activities seemed suspicious to the police, after which the police personnel chased them. Police personnel stopped all five at some distance. When their bags were searched, fake US dollars were found in it.
