Terrorists opened fire on a passenger train in south-western Pakistan on Tuesday. The train driver has been seriously injured in this firing. According to information, terrorists have hijacked this train.
The train was travelling from Quetta in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province to Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa when it was fired upon, railway officials said.
In a statement on the incident, officials said that the militant separatist group Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attack. Officials said that this organization has taken hundreds of people on the train, including security forces, hostage.
Officials said that security forces have been sent to the spot and investigation is going on. Let us inform you that the Balochistan region of Pakistan is a resource-rich area. However, incidents of conflict have always been seen in this area.
Pakistani newspaper Dawn quoted officials as saying that firing took place on the Jaffar Express train going from Quetta to Peshawar.
Railway controller Muhammad Kashif said that there are more than 450 passengers on this train. He said that the train was stopped by armed men in tunnel number 8. Efforts are being made to contact the passengers and staff. (Agencies)
