Jammu, December 26:
Unidentified thieves stole three irrigation motors targeting farmers’ fields in Puro Bhana village of RS Pura area on Thursday night. There is a lot of resentment among the farmers due to the continuous incidents of theft.
The victim said that two water motors were stolen from his fields. He said that on Saturday morning, when he reached the fields for irrigation, he saw that the motors were missing.
According to the victim, it costs about 30 to 40 thousand rupees to install one motor.
He has lost about 60 to 70 thousand rupees due to the theft of two of his motors. He said that after incurring so much loss. It would be very difficult for him to compensate for this amount despite farming throughout the year.
Farmers say that the incidents of theft of irrigation motors from the fields in the area have been increasing for some time, but due to the negligence of the police, the morale of the thieves is high.
The aggrieved farmers have demanded that strict action should be taken in this matter.
