The people of Top area, who were in trouble last day due to the breach in the banks of the Nikki Tawi river, are still scared. However, after the water level of the river decreased, the people who had gone to safer places have started returning slowly. But those whose houses have been completely flooded are still with their relatives.
Top village, located on the last bank of the Nikki-Tawi river, has to bear the brunt of the river water. There are no crates on the banks of the Tawi here and the soil keeps eroding again and again. Like what happened yesterday, due to soil erosion. The water of Nikki-Tawi entered Top and Sum and engulfed the crops grown in the fields.
Whenever there is a flood, the people of Sum Top become restless because this village is situated right on the banks of the Tawi river. The houses in the lower regions of the village also get submerged in water due to the flood water.
Due to erosion of soil on the other side of the river, water entered the lower area of Badiyaal. The biggest concern for the farmers is that Tawi changes its course here year after year.
Sometimes it eats up the fields on this side and sometimes it devoured the fields on that side. Balak Nath of Top village said that although the Tawi river is the lifeline for the people.
The people of Top village heaved a sigh of relief as the water level in the river decreased but they are still scared. The fear is that if it rains again, the water starts entering the village. The people of the village say that some plan should be made to make Top village safe.
