The operation in Shopian continues for the second day, drones and sniffer dogs are in the field in search of terrorists

Shopian, July 5:
Security forces on Sunday continued an intensive search operation in Chanpora and adjoining areas of Shopian district. The firing took place during the initial phase of the operation on Saturday.

Officials said no fresh firing was reported since Saturday evening. Though a search operation was underway to trace suspected militants hiding in the area.

The operation was launched after security agencies received specific intelligence about the presence and movement of suspected militants in Chanpora.

Following which the joint forces cordoned off the area. The police, the Army and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) are jointly running the operation, in which advanced surveillance equipment, including drones and sniffer dogs, have been deployed to help in the search.

Security forces are carrying out systematic searches in the area, while additional security forces have been deployed to prevent any escape from the cordoned off area.
