Chandigarh, March 17:
The prime accused in the recent grenade attack on a temple in Amritsar was killed in a police encounter on Monday morning. The suspect has been identified as Gursidhk Singh.
Information was received that Gursidak and Vishal, the accused of grenade attack on the temple in Amritsar, were hiding in Rajasansi area. Police launched a search operation. During this, the accused had an encounter with the police. Accused Gursidak was shot in the encounter.
While his partner Vishal managed to escape. According to police officials, specific intelligence was received about the accused roaming in the Rajasansi area.
A team of CIA and Chhaherta police personnel was formed to arrest them. The team saw two people coming on a bike. The police tried to stop the bike, but the bike-riding accused left the bike and opened fire on the police party.
According to the police, one bullet hit constable Gurpreet Singh’s head, one bullet hit Inspector Amolak Singh’s turban and one bullet hit the police vehicle. Inspector Vinod Kumar fired from his pistol in self-defense, injuring accused Gursidak.
