Jammu, March 21:
On Thursday night, terrorists tried to target the Special Operations Group (SOG) of police, who was out on patrol in Thannamandi tehsil, with a grenade near Chajja Wala Qila.
Fortunately, the grenade exploded away from the vehicle, so the team did not suffer any damage. SOG and the army have cordoned off the area. A search operation will be conducted as soon as morning arrives. However, the police did not confirm the incident.
According to sources, the SOG team had gone out on patrol in two vehicles. At around 7:45 pm, as soon as they reached near Chajja Wala Qila, the terrorists hiding on the heights attacked the vehicles with grenades.
The terrorists missed their target due to which the grenade fell far away. It is being told that a DSP rank officer was present in one of the SOG vehicles. After the incident, the army and police have cordoned off the area. The security forces were trying to find the terrorists by firing illumination shells.
