New Delhi, March 11:
Airtel has signed an agreement with Elon Musk’s company SpaceX to bring Starlink satellite internet to India, although this deal will be implemented only when SpaceX gets permission from the Indian government to sell Starlink services.
Key points of Airtel and SpaceX partnership
Sale of Starlink equipment: Airtel can sell Starlink equipment in its stores and offer it to business customers.
Internet in Rural Areas: This partnership will work to provide internet services to rural schools, health centres and remote areas.
Expanding Airtel network: Starlink can help improve Airtel’s network, and SpaceX can use Airtel’s infrastructure in India.
Airtel is already providing satellite internet
Airtel is already providing satellite internet services in partnership with Eutelsat OneWeb. The addition of Starlink will expand internet coverage in remote areas and provide more options for high-speed connectivity to businesses and rural communities.
Gopal Vittal, Managing Director and Vice President, Bharti Airtel, said that partnering with SpaceX to offer Starlink services to Airtel customers in India is a significant milestone. It further strengthens Airtel’s commitment to next-generation satellite connectivity. (Agencies)
