Srinagar, April 15:
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday took a unique stand during the inauguration of an event in Srinagar.
He was here to inaugurate the Know Your Artisans programme organised at Kashmir Haat.
When the ribbon with the colors of the tricolor (saffron, white and green) was placed in front of him for cutting. The Chief Minister refused to cut it. He opened the ribbon and gave it back to the organizers, saying that it should be kept with respect.
The entire incident was captured on cameras and went viral on social media. Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Chaudhary, advisor Nasir Aslam Wani and other officials were present on the occasion. Thereafter, the programme process continued as normal and the Chief Minister took part in other activities at the Kashmir Haat.
