Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather held a meeting on Wednesday to review the preparations for the assembly session starting October 23.
He said, the officials should complete the necessary preparations soon for the smooth conduct of the session. The work should be completed in a coordinated manner.
The Speaker said, the Information Department should ensure proper coverage of the proceedings of the House.
Ensure that technical equipment such as public address system, mike and other related equipment be made available to the media. WiFi and internet services should be arranged with high speed. Where necessary, routers should be installed. Security agencies should deploy adequate staff in the Assembly premises, well versed in parliamentary traditions. Adequate arrangements should be made for the security of the MLAs.
Rather asked the Estates Department to expedite repairs, renovation works in Srinagar, especially in the Assembly hall and VIP rooms. Apart from setting up intercom telephone facilities, he also asked to check the telephones already installed in the VIP rooms. Rather called upon the Jal Shakti Department to take necessary measures to provide adequate and regular water supply in the Legislature Complex and MLA Hostel, Srinagar.
