Srinagar on Saturday witnessed the hottest day of the season as the maximum temperature touched 35.9 degrees Celsius. It triggers intense heat wave across the Kashmir Valley.
Due to the current heatwave-like situation, people remained indoors during the peak hours of the afternoon, while parks, markets and other public places remained less bustling due to the scorching sun.
Health experts advise people to stay well hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, and take necessary precautions, especially children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing health conditions. The demand for electricity and drinking water has also increased due to rising temperatures, and people are increasingly dependent on cooling appliances to escape the heat.
Meteorological department officials are closely monitoring the weather situation and have asked people to follow the official weather advisory as the situation may change in the coming days.
