Jammu, June 1:
Jammu and Kashmir para shooter Aamir Ahmed Bhatt has been selected in the Indian para shooting team for the Paris 2024 Paralympics. Aamir is the first para shooter from the state as well as the country to qualify for the Olympics in less than two years. Aamir has so far won 10 medals in all formats at the national and international level, including two gold, four silver and four bronze medals.
Abdul Hamid’s son Amir Ahmad Bhat is a resident of Damhal village of Kokernag tehsil. Amir said that his village is located about 10 kilometers away from Anantnag district headquarters. He completed his studies till tenth standard from Government High School Damhal.
After this, he completed his intermediate education from Government Higher Secondary School Dialgam. Soon after giving the 12th examination, he joined the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JKLI) Regiment of the Indian Army as a soldier in the year 2012 after passing the rally. Along with his assigned duties as a soldier in the army, he developed a keen interest in the sport of shooting. Whenever he got a chance to play, he performed well.
Aamir got a chance to play in the shooting trials organized by the Indian Army in March 2021 at the Marksmanship Unit of Mhow Indore. Here he attracted the attention of the management with his excellent performance.
