A historical archaeological relic has been found in Doda district from the Chenab river.
A witness to thousands of years old human civilization. Carved artefacts of Nandi and Gajraj have been found on the rock protruding from the river on the Doda-Kishtwar road.
It is believed that this artwork is from the Pandava period. The Archives, Archaeology and Museums Department of the state is considering it as of the ninth century. Work has begun on a plan to preserve it.
The Pandavas are likely to have built it during the period of incognito, the locals call it Panch Pandavas, considering it to be the Pandava period. It is said that the Pandavas may have passed through this route during the period of incognito. He must have made these artworks during his stay. Among the five brothers, Nakul was also a craftsman. Therefore, it is possible that he was the one who carved it. Even after thousands of years, it is still safe and telling the story of the legacy of the golden past.
The rock is submerged in water in summer, due to the melting of snow in summer, the water level of the Chenab river rises, the rocks that enclose the artwork are submerged in water. They are not visible from the outside, but as soon as the water level decreases in the cold, the rocks come out. The artworks of Nandi and Gajraj engraved on them are clearly visible.
