Jammu, November 13:
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is on a visit to Delhi these days, met Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar today. According to officials, various issues related to J&K were discussed for more than 30 minutes.
Omar Abdullah, who arrived in the capital on Monday evening, is also likely to meet President Draupadi Murmu soon. He is also scheduled to meet Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. On Tuesday, Abdullah attended a conference of power ministers of states and union territories. On the occasion he said the Indus Water Treaty was restricting the use of Jammu and Kashmir’s vast hydropower resources, mainly due to storage problems.
He also expressed concern over the reduction in power generation during the winter months in Jammu and Kashmir. The hardships faced by the people as a result of this treaty. Abdullah said that hydel power is the only stable energy source of Jammu and Kashmir and we need special compensation and assistance for it so that we can fully utilize our hydro-energy potential.
