Panchkula, March 7:
Indian Air Force’s fighter plane Jaguar crashed near Baldwala village of Morni in Panchkula, Haryana on Friday. Indian Air Force official said that the plane had taken off from Ambala Airbase for a training flight. The pilot managed to save his life by landing with a parachute.
The official said that an inquiry has been ordered into the accident. However, it is believed that the plane met with the accident due to a technical fault.
According to eyewitnesses, the plane collided with the swaying trees and fell into a ditch in the middle of the forest. As soon as the plane fell, it caught fire and broke into many pieces. Pieces of the plane were found scattered in the surrounding areas.
As soon as the information of the accident was received, the local administration, police and Air Force officials reached the spot. The area has been sealed and relief and rescue work is going on. The Air Force has ordered a Court of Inquiry to investigate the causes of the accident. (Agencies)
