Maa Ranchandi’s court is decorated amidst the snow-clad mountains in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir. When you reach Machail Maa’s court by moving forward through beautiful trails, you will feel as if nature has embraced you in its lap. The beautiful valleys will captivate your heart.
Mother is enthroned in the form of Pindi in the temple situated in the middle of Machail village, 95 kms from Kishtwar. She was named Ranachandi because she was the favorite goddess of army leaders and warriors. Dogra warriors used to come here to pay their respects to the mother before going to war. General Zorawar Singh started his campaign to conquer Tibet only after having darshan of the mother.
Nestled in the lap of nature amidst rugged hills, this village has the famous Machail Maa temple made of wood. The main part of this temple has an attractive and artistic scene of Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean). The idols of mythological gods and goddesses are made on wooden plaques on the outside of the temple.
