Srinagar, July 7:
Ladakh Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena has approved an interim land use regulatory framework for municipal committee areas, giving relief to the people.
Under this, up to 2 kanals of land within the limits of the municipal body. It can be used for residential, commercial, industrial or mixed use without any prior permission.
The decision is aimed at removing the long-standing uncertainty due to the non-availability of Master Plan and Zonal Development Plan in Ladakh. This will relieve the common people from the hassles of getting permission for construction of houses, starting businesses.
The order issued by the Lieutenant Governor’s office said that no development proposal or building application will be stopped in the municipal committee areas. This is only for the basis of lack of a master plan or zonal development plan.
However, some activities will be prohibited without permission.
These include Red, Orange and Green category industries, abattoirs, and others activities such as graveyards or cremation grounds.
