Jammu, November 18:
On Monday afternoon, a dumper entering the tunnel at the Quad Power Project being built on the Kishtwar-Padar road suddenly caught fire. This caused panic among the workers and employees inside the tunnel. Thick smoke filled the tunnel after the fire. A rescue operation was launched and 39 workers and employees were safely evacuated.
Officials said that upon receiving information about the fire, efforts were made to extinguish it by pouring water. A fire brigade vehicle arrived and quickly brought the fire under control. A police team has also begun investigating the incident.
According to officials and workers involved in the project, the cause of the fire is not yet clear. Initial estimates suggest a technical fault in the dumper may have caused the fire. Detailed information is being gathered. Officials stated that the situation is normal and no major damage has been reported. The fire and police departments will soon release a detailed report on the incident.
