Srinagar, September 4:
National Conference vice-president and former chief minister Omar Abdullah filed his nomination for the Ganderbal assembly constituency on Wednesday. Expressing confidence in his victory, he said that if we had not given a ticket to Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar to contest the elections here in 2014, he would never have become an MLA.
It is noteworthy that Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar resigned from the National Conference last year and has formed an organization called Jammu-Kashmir United Movement. He is also going to contest elections from Ganderbal.
Omar Abdullah said that I won the election from Ganderbal in 2008 and started many development works here. We had promised to make Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar our candidate in the elections, so we made him contest the elections from here in 2014. Ishfaq Jabbar also won the election from here but after becoming an MLA, he could not fulfill the expectations of the local people.
He was unable to fulfil his responsibilities as an MLA. He was unable to take forward the development schemes that we had implemented here. This is the reason why today Ganderbal again feels backward in the race of development.
