After the discussion on the Immigration and Foreigners Bill 2025 in the Lok Sabha, Home Minister Amit Shah responded in detail on the provisions of the bill. He said that a valid passport, valid visa will be mandatory to come to India. Strict action will be taken in a legal manner for entering India without documents. He said strictly, provisions have been made for strict punishment for fake documents.
Shah slammed the opposition and said that the kind of questions asked are quite surprising. He said that the people of the country voted for the BJP. We have formed a majority government. In such a situation, the government has full right to check the infiltration of foreigners and whether the people coming to India have valid documents or not. Shah bluntly said that India (country) is not a “Dharamshala”.
After the reply of Home Minister Amit Shah, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla announced the passing of the bill at around 6.20 pm on Thursday evening. First Speaker Birla completed the formalities of voting on the amendments proposed in the bill. Most of the amendments moved by the opposition MPs were rejected. (Agencies)
