Srinagar, September 18:
Professor Abdul Ghani Bhat, a prominent academician, political leader and former chairman of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, died on Wednesday evening at his residence in Boitengo, Sopore, in Baramulla district of North Kashmir, following a brief illness. He was 89 years old. Born in 1935 in Boitengo village near Sopore, Professor Bhat was a distinguished scholar who completed his bachelor’s degree in Persian, economics, and political science from Sri Pratap (SP) College, Srinagar. He then obtained a master’s degree in Persian and a law degree from Aligarh Muslim University.
