Srinagar, August 10:
Ahead of Independence Day on August 15, 2026, security forces have issued a high alert in Srinagar and the entire Kashmir Valley. Authorities have put in place multiple layers of security arrangements, additional checkpoints and intensive searches of vehicles across the city. The Jammu and Kashmir Police and paramilitary forces have put in place a multi-layered security arrangement. The main official event of Independence Day will be held at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar. Sharpshooters and armed personnel in plain clothes have been deployed near key locations. Intensive checking, blockade and search operations have been intensified on major routes like Srinagar-Jammu and Srinagar-Baramulla Highway. Surveillance has been increased in sensitive areas of the city and temporary restrictions have been imposed.
