Once again the rising temperature in Ladakh is posing a threat to humanity. The Meteorological Department has said that the glaciers in the Ladakh region are melting rapidly. The reason behind this is global warming. Popular meteorologist and IMD director Sonam Lotus has expressed concern over the rising temperature.
During the conversation, he said that the rapid increase in temperature is indeed a matter of concern. Glaciers are our natural resources. Which are very valuable. We get water from the glacier, so if the temperature rises like this. Then it is a matter of concern. He further said that when 30 degrees of Ladakh is equal to 40 degrees of plains, then the intense heat will melt the ice bodies rapidly.
Sonam Lotus, the weather director, further said that Ladakh is a cold desert. This does not mean that it is always cold here. Further, it is cold here during winters in December-January, when the temperature in Leh drops to minus 20 or 25 degrees Celsius. Experiencing summer here is not a new thing.
