Jammu, February 10:
A forest fire broke out near the Line of Control (LoC) on the India-Pakistan border in Poonch district on Sunday. This caused four landmines to explode. There is no report of any casualties.
Officials said that the explosions took place in the forest of Lanjote in Balakote sector of Mendhar. A fire broke out suddenly and landmines exploded at around 1 pm. Landmines have been laid in the forward areas along the LoC as part of the anti-infiltration barrier system to prevent terrorists from infiltrating into the country from across the border. At the same time, army personnel and forest department personnel are fully alert. It is being told that efforts will be made to extinguish the fire once it comes out of the landmine area.
Let us tell you that earlier on 28 January, a landmine explosion in the forests of Balakot caused a fire. After this, on 30 January, landmines exploded in the forests of Karmada.
