Jammu, February 20:
The areas around the Chenab River are once again facing the threat of flooding. The dams damaged due to floods and heavy rains in Jammu and Kashmir last year. It has not been reconstructed so far, causing concern and resentment among the surrounding villages.
Villagers say that if the dams are not repaired or rebuilt in time, there may be a flood situation again in the coming days, which can cause serious damage to the villages. They allege that assurances are being given by the administration, but the work at the ground level is not satisfactory.
Locals accused the government of only giving assurances while not taking necessary steps for security in time. He says that the construction of strong dams is very important before the rainy season comes.
The villagers have warned that if the construction work is not started soon, they will be forced to stage a furious protest, for which the administration will be fully responsible.
