Srinagar, March 17:
An encounter is going on between security forces and terrorists in Kupwara. Two to three terrorists are said to be trapped.
According to the information, SOG Handwara launched a search operation in the Krumbhura area of Jachaldara in Kupwara district. During this, the terrorists opened fire on the security forces and fled from the spot.
After receiving information about the presence of militants, security forces launched a search operation. After this an encounter started between terrorists and security forces.
Two to three terrorists might be trapped in the area. There was heavy firing. The area has been sealed. Additional forces have been deployed.
One terrorist has been killed in the ongoing encounter with security forces. An AK-47 rifle and other war material have been recovered during the encounter. The operation is still going on and the area has been cordoned off by security forces. Apart from the body of the terrorist, other important items are also likely to be recovered in this encounter. At present, more information is awaited. The security forces are on alert regarding the operation against the terrorists and the possibility of any other terrorist hiding in the area cannot be ruled out.
