Jammu, August 6:
The Jammu Police has achieved another success in the ‘war on drugs’. The police have arrested a drug peddler and recovered heroin from him.
On August 01 at around 6:45 pm, a team from Channi Himmat police station was conducting routine traffic checking. An Audi car with the number JK02DU-0219 was stopped for checking. During the search of the vehicle, the police found silver foil paper and a packet of cigarettes with a folded currency note, which led to the suspicion of drug abuse.
Subsequently, the driver Kapil Sharma (father Kamal Sharma, resident of Ward No. 09, near R.M. Public School, Chowadhi) was searched. During the search, 7.50 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from him.
In this case, FIR number 223/2026 has been registered under relevant sections of the law at Channi Himmat Police Station. The accused has been arrested and further investigations are underway to ascertain the other persons involved in the drug smuggling network or the source of supply.
