Jammu and Kashmir Police has achieved a significant success by exposing a well-planned criminal conspiracy of drug possession to implicate an innocent person. In this action, Srinagar Police has arrested four people under the NDPS Act. During the investigation, it was revealed that this entire case was planned out of greed and revenge.
A police spokesperson said that the operation was launched on February 24, 2025. The operation launched based on an information, police found a suspicious vehicle parked near Oasis School in Karan Nagar area. A complaint was lodged by Advocate Yusha Yousuf Mir, resident of Bakshipora Noorbagh, Srinagar, who informed Police Station Shaheedganj about a vehicle with registration number JK01AX-8467, which was repeatedly parked in the area under suspicious circumstances.
Acting immediately, police officials along with a magistrate raided the spot and found the vehicle, as per reports. Through the phone number displayed on the vehicle. The owner was identified as Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, son of late Ghulam Mohammad Bhat of Astan Mohalla Natipora.
He was contacted and asked to reach the spot. During the search conducted in the presence of a magistrate, 452 grams of hashish-like substance was recovered from the vehicle. Following this, FIR No. 05/2025 was registered under the NDPS Act at Shaheed Ganj police station, following which the vehicle was immediately seized and Manzoor Ahmed was arrested.
He said what initially appeared to be a simple case of drug smuggling soon took a dramatic turn. Further investigation revealed that Manzoor Ahmad was deliberately framed by a group of five persons due to a financial dispute.
