Jammu, August 27:
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday expressed grief over the deaths in the landslide on the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra route. He asked why the Yatra was continued despite the disaster warning?
He said that the question arises that why the officials of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board did not stop the pilgrims. It is important to find out these facts.
Earlier, a landslide occurred on the Yatra route last Tuesday, in which the death toll reached 34 by this afternoon. After this incident, the Yatra was postponed.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that this tragic accident on the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra route could have been avoided.
We will have to talk about this not today but later that when we knew about the weather. Then should we not have taken some steps to save the lives of these people?
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that 29-30 people have died in this accident. We could have saved them. He said that the concerned officials should tell why these people were on the Yatra track?
