Poonch, August 5:
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday visited flood-ravaged Murra and Dara Sangla areas of Surankot tehsil of Poonch district and Loran area of Mandi tehsil. He is there to take stock of the situation and meet the affected families.
During his visit, the Chief Minister inspected Murra and Dara Sangla villages. These areas are among the worst-hit areas by the recent cloudburst and flash floods.
He met the families who have lost their near and dear ones in this natural calamity and whose houses and livelihoods have been severely damaged.
The Chief Minister expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved families.
The Chief Minister then visited the Loran area of Mandi tehsil where he carried out a detailed inspection of the damage caused by floods and landslides.
After the visit, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah held a high level review meeting with senior officials of the district administration at Dak Bungalow in Poonch.
In the meeting, administrative and police officials gave him a detailed briefing on the damage caused by the disaster. The ongoing relief and rescue operations and the progress of restoration work in various areas.
