The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has showered money on the Indian team that won the ICC Champions Trophy. The board has announced a cash reward of Rs 58 crore for Team India. This financial benefit will be given to the players, coaching and support staff. And also to the members of the men’s selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar. The board did not give details of the reward in its statement.
BCCI President Roger Binny said in a release, ‘Winning consecutive ICC titles is special and this award recognizes Team India’s dedication and excellence on the global stage.’ India won the title by defeating New Zealand by four wickets in the final of the Champions Trophy 2025. This was India’s second consecutive ICC tournament title.
Binny said that the Champions Trophy victory is a sign of India’s strong cricket eco-system. He said, ‘This is our second ICC title in 2025. The ICC Under 19 Women’s team also won the World Cup. This proves how strong the cricket eco-system is in the country.’ The Indian team also won the T20 World Cup last year. (Agencies)
