Udhampur, February 9:
In a significant step towards agricultural diversification and income enhancement for farmers, the Chief Agriculture Officer (CAO) Udhampur, Sh. Sanjay Anand organized a transformative training initiative. A group of 120 farmers is being sent on a tour to Bhaderwah for Lavender Farming Training, aiming to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to embrace a new agricultural practice.
Traditionally, farmers in the region have been limited to cultivating primary crops, namely paddy/maize and wheat. However, these crops have often been prone to damage by wildlife, particularly monkeys, leading to significant losses for farmers.
The training tour to Bhaderwah is a part of the concerted efforts by the agricultural authorities to empower farmers with the necessary skills, knowledge, and resources to adopt innovative and sustainable farming practices.
