Leh, October 18:
In view of the potential threats to public peace and order. The DM of Leh, Romil Singh Donk, has issued an order under Section-163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha SanSanhita 2023. It has imposed restrictions on public gatherings and certain activities in the Leh jurisdiction.
According to official information, the order has been issued following a report by the Senior Superintendent of Police, Leh. The report had expressed apprehension of disturbance of public peace, threat to human life and possible law and order problem in the area.
According to the order, no procession, rally or march will be taken out without the prior written permission of the competent authority.
Loudspeakers will not be allowed to be used on vehicles without permission. Individuals are prohibited from making statements that may disturb public peace or provoke law and order problems. Gathering of five or more persons is prohibited in the jurisdiction of Tehsil Leh.
The order came into effect immediately after it was issued on October 17.
