Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Pawan Kotwal will be the first Chief Secretary of Ladakh UT

Jammu, February 19:
Pawan Kotwal, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor in Ladakh UT, will be the first Chief Secretary. Ladakh General Administration Department has issued an order in this regard. In this, the post of Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor has been re-designated as Chief Secretary Union Territory of Ladakh. This decision follows the notification of January 3 issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India.
This has been approved by the competent authority in the Ministry of Home Affairs. Dr. Pawan Kotwal, a 1994 batch (AGMUT cadre) IAS officer, is currently serving as Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. He will take over as Chief Secretary of the Union Territory of Ladakh with no change in his duties and responsibilities.
This decision will prove to be an important milestone in the administrative development of Ladakh. Due to which Dr. Pawan Kotwal has become the first Chief Secretary of the state. At the same time, Dr. Kotwal was born in Jammu and Kashmir in 1965.
During his career, Dr Kotwal has held various key positions in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. These include Divisional Commissioner of Jammu, Deputy Commissioner in several districts of Jammu and Kashmir and Principal Secretary in departments such as Health and Medical Education, Revenue, Forest, Ecology, Environment, Planning Development and Monitoring Department as well as Commissioner Secretary and Administrative Secretary in various other departments. He has also served as Financial Commissioner in the Revenue Department, Inspector General of Registration and Secretary to the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
