After the public proclamation of central transport minister Nitin Gadkari to the nation regarding illegal toll plazas, Aam Adami Party staged a massive protest at Sarore toll plaza which has been led by Sh. Manish Sinha, Co-observer, Jammu Province, on 03-04-2022. The members of the party’s legal cell, who were the working advocates of high court Jammu, also participated while wearing their traditional black blazers. More than hundred party workers stood in a que at toll posts and raised slogans which explicate the NAHI’s guidelines of minimum sixty kms distance to establish a toll. Advocates and party workers also explained to the different vehicles drivers that they are not supposed to pay the toll because of it’s illegal existence for the last many years. It is pertinent to mention here that no driver had paid any toll during protest.
In a statement issued to mercury times, Sinha told reporters that Modi government has converted the city of temples to the city of illegal tolls. Criticizing Union Government for its failure to curb inflation, he said that prices of essential commodities are rising everyday but Union Govt. seems to be sleeping over the issue .Referring to the statement of Union Transport Minister in which he said that any toll existing within a range of 60 km from another toll is illegal, he said that distance between toll plaza at Sarore and toll plaza at Ban Nagrota is less than 60 km and it should be removed as it is simply an harassment to the local public. Miserable condition of different highways, illegal establishment of meaningless toll plazas and ascending rage of public will pull down the BJP in the coming Assembly elections. Sanjeev Sareen and Manesh Chopra also condemned the policies of the central government. We came here with a peaceful notion and having roses in the hands to let the state government know about the grievances of the people. Jagdeep Singh, spokesperson of the party, Sansar Singh youth president, Jangvir Singh, Nazir Choudhary, Amit Kapoor, Raju Salariya and many others participated in the protest.
